this month — August 2026: MaaPaa & Better Block
This month we're giving to two neighbors: MaaPaa, which walks alongside single moms raising their sons with coaching, care packages, and community — and Better Block, the nonprofit born right here in Oak Cliff that helps neighbors reshape their own streets and storefronts. Here's how it works: when the items you donate sell, 10% of the sale price goes to one of these two causes — tell us your pick at drop-off, or we'll choose for you.
— Why it matters
Every purchase helps
Shopping and donating at Cliffhanger isn't just a good deal — it keeps useful things moving, and when donated items sell, a slice goes to a local cause every month.
- for your wallet — Affordable goods stay in circulation
- for the planet — Donations avoid landfills
- for the neighborhood — Local causes receive 10% of donated-goods sales
— Why we opened
About Cliffhanger
Cliffhanger started with a simple idea: good things shouldn't end up in a landfill when they could help someone else. We're a small Oak Cliff business built around affordable secondhand shopping, community giving, and making sure everyone feels welcome. Every donation gets another chance, every purchase helps keep useful goods in circulation, and each month 10% of the revenue from donated goods supports a local cause.
"Reuse is the simplest sustainability there is."
Every piece that finds a second home keeps something out of the landfill and out of someone else's "I had to buy that new" budget.
And the name? Oak Cliff is the neighborhood. The other half is honest: we sell coat hangers' worth of stuff — clothes, housewares, the kind of finds you didn't know you needed. The pun is the address.
— Need help?
Need a hand?
Neighbors in crisis — fire, displacement, hardship — are welcome to reach out. Tell us what's going on and we'll do what we can from the inventory on our floor.

Where your goods go
Cliffhanger isn't a 501(c)(3) — we're a small for-profit community shop. So instead of giving you a tax receipt, we promise something simpler: when the goods you donate sell, 10% of each sale goes to the month's named local cause. When we're featuring more than one, tell us at drop-off which your donation should support — or we'll pick for you. This month's cause is named in the band at the top of this page.
This month, that's MaaPaa & Better Block.
